Apparently they've run like 50-100 prints and still going.

I've ordered one. Expect a review late next week ;)

I am waiting on a roll of Kapton tape from rapide....think I am going to ask them to not send it and invest in this instead, especially if your review is similar to others that have used it

Aliexpress has 200mm rolls of Kapton for sale at several stores. 200mm x 33 metres rolls are around $25.

Of course Kapton and painters tape will always be cheaper, but you dont need to mess with cleaning tape from the prints, replacing kapton (which is more "painful" than painters), etc. plus the adherence seems to work well no matter what filament u use....

We'll see....

I used Blue Painters tape for a few prints recently and I didn't like it.
- Without bed heated the PLA at 210C was not getting stick;
- With bed heated to 60C it sticks, but then it is very hard to remove the object;
- While removing the objects the tape detaches too easily from the aluminium plate.

I placed a new Kapton sheet, from the spares included from Rapide, and using the glass cleaning spray and credit card was acceptable easy to do.

I am very happy using Kapton and next time I will try a glass.

But looking forward to get more feedback from the BuildTak.

Also have ordered one. If it works as claimed it will be like magic.

Joao, did u try hairspray? I cant see why people would like add glass and get less temperature on the print base...

I do think i've seen a similar material on this buildtak in a youtube video of a 3D Print UK fair... so i guess thats what the pros use :D

I didn't try hairspray, I don't have any at home, but I also read that the hairspray was to improve adhesion? The Kapton has already a sticky side (it was hard to remove the protective plastic from it), and it glues very well, too well.
The adhesion of Kapton to the plate is perfect, not a single bubble, removing a very large part was easy and the tape didn't move a bit.

Joao I meant hairspray to have PLA to adhere to kapton...

Kapton ALONE + PLA wont do well...

I never had a problem with PLA adhering to Kapton.

My slicer settings to achieve this:

Bed Temp
Head Temp

1 & 2

I only use a Brim when the object has ver small contact with surface (less than 5mm), or height is 2x more than the surface contact (because of the plate movement).

Where did you get the info 50 - 100 prints per sheet

Seems like good stuff and economical even at 50 prints per sheet its better value than Kapton and easier to use

Kapton 30mt roll cost me 50 $AU Shipped & BuildTak 5 Sheets @ 200x200 costs 68 $AU Shipped

Even at 50 prints @ sheet its 80% the cost of Kapton & at 100 prints its 40% the cost of Kapton

if your in Australian BuildTak has 4 distributors but only 1 stocks 8" x 8" for RapideLite 3DPrinterGear (https://www.3dprintergear.com.au/buildtak/307-buildtak-8x8-203mm-x-203mm.html#/quantity-5)

great stuff I am ordering some and any one want a cheap roll of Kapton - :)

thanks for the info.......Cheers

@JOao I never raised bed temp higher than 55, that might be also an issue... Plus you use 220ยบ for PLA? wow, never raised above 190 i think....

@zoom, seller told me they've been printing steady over it for more than 50 prints....
Try placing the kapton tape for sale or trade in our Marketplace (http://www.print3dforum.com/ozzmodz_classifieds.php) hehee
