The more I read the more I like! :D:cool:
"Q: Will there be a laser etching module?"
A: Our R&D team have a number of plans already laid out to execute to include various print head types. The 450w power supply was added for that very reason!"
"the controller is an Arduino in conjunction with the new Raspberry Pi"
"NEA’s Print beds are special. They have what we call “Multi-Zone heating” Which means that you can heat up the bed variably to your prints overall diameter. It means less time to heat up your bed to begin printing, less energy used, less taxing on the electronics in general. A single sheet of aluminium that is physically attached to our heater has worked well for us. The aluminium will be specially coated."

Yeah the exchangeable heads is one of the reasons this kicks ass, plus the CPU drawer thing... Let's see how much smart does it get on the launch date.

Bolson - Where did you read about 8mm rods?
"Arent you worried by using 8mm rods instead of 10mm rods? Past printers began to behave less precise due to that… or are the extruder heads really lightweight??"
The video I saw filmed at a conference earlier this year had the extruder running on a linear slide rail.

JOao told me! I'll flame him! haha!
Ps. that question on indiegogo is mine! :D
Thank you bolson for the :flame: :)
Watching the video you can see the vertical rods. They are as thin as the 8mm from our printers.
I know it is only a video and the size is not very clear, but 10mm rods are really easy to notice.
But I like the fact that the vertical rod and the lifting screw (i don't know the name of that long screw), they are apart each other quite significantly.
That might improve a lot the stability.

It seems the extruder motor runs on a linear rail but pushed/pulled by threaded rods, not by a belt.

I know, that's why I asked you, where had you heard about 8mm rods?

They look like 8mm to me. I wonder why we havent seen them print anything utilizing it's advertised build volume. I would like to see a 15 inch Eiffel tower. Anyone can produce little figurines. Lets put their claims to the test to see if that their thin lead screws can handle a large, quality print. Someone make a request in their comments. Im on the edge on contributing but havent seen enough proof.

I guess they only have the Pro "readily available to print"? It's the only one we see in action on their video right?

Yeah but even the pro model we havent seen them actually print anything sizable utiziling even the pro model's build volume. Its not hard to create a printer capable of printing small figurines. Its when u print larger items that flaws begin to show. And the printing in the video are time lapses. Quite deceptive. Afterall they are also an experienced visual graphics company. I would like to see a raw unedited real time video of a larger scale print.
