I could even guide the filaments straight up to the printer but i'm not planning to keep that buzzing around me anymore... (moving them to a neighbour room).

I did something similar but inside a large air tight box, specially for PLA.
At the bottom of the box I laid 1cm high of cat litter for moisture absorbing.

Maybe it would be worth to test leaving some filament outside of the box to confirm that the air tight box with lower moisture really preserves longer the PLA.
