Campaign Owners will respond promptly and truthfully to all questions posed to them by Indiegogo or any Contributor. If any Campaign Owner is unable to fulfill any of its commitments to Contributors (including delivering any Perks), the Campaign Owner will work with the Contributors to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution, which may include refunding their Contributions.
....

...
InDemand

Indiegogo may remove a Campaign from InDemand if Perks have not been fulfilled within three (3) months after the estimated delivery date, or if the fulfillment of Perks is delayed indefinitely.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rapide3D failed to fulfill all orders for RapideOne campaign (http://www.print3dforum.com/showthread.php/2-Rapide-Lite-Affordable-High-Resolution-3D-Printer-IndieGoGo-Campaign!) on IndieGoGo. Users were offered exchange to acquire new Rapide3D Rapide Lite 200 (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rapide-lite-affordable-high-resolution-3d-printer/x/8784579#/story) and Rapide Lite 200XL (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rapide-lite-200xl-400mm-desktop-plus-3d-printer/x/8784579#/story) Campaigns on IndieGoGo, which also have failed to deliver in full.

This is an attempt to register all perks not delivered by Rapide3D managing staff to its supporters.

So are you owed perks, parts, printers or anything by Rapide3D during its IndieGoGo RAPIDE LITE/ONE Campaigns?

Post here your amounts owerd (total) and perks, full name and location so in the event we move to a next step (legal action?) we can coordinate better.

Eg.

- John Doe, from Nebraska, USA: Owed 1 Fully upgraded Rapide Lite 200XL + 1 Nozzle Me perk + 1 Materialize Me PRO Perk for a total of : $2,995

To find out which Perks you're still owed you can recall all your Contributions by signing in into your IndieGoGO account and surfing to MY CONTRIBUTIONS menu on the top right menu on your screen.

If you paid for any bonus shipping or any fees IN ADDITION to Indiegogo perks feel free to add them too, but ONLY stuff you can later prove in a Court room if we reach the limit of having to face a trial, ie. DO NOT LIE!

Just a quick update: someone reports there's a "HUGE" update coming from Rapide in the next few days. Not "my" advice but "logic" says the list stays updated and names and debt stays in "collecting" mode EVEN IF there are PROMISES of printers and perks being delivered "TOMORROW" until ALL debt is satisfied by Rapide3D.

Thoughts?

I think this thread was an excellent idea personally; and that keeping it current as you have suggested is the best course of action. IF perks do start to ship, then it would be nice if the forum members would report back and the list updated so other members can see that things are happening and have a sense of where and how quickly... That's my two cents worth anyway. :-)

Thoughts? Since word from Rapide and Ethan is completely unreliable, I'll believe it when I see it as far as a huge update. I don't want anything but a refund at this point. I say leave the list until everyone on it is taken care of.

Yeah I meant keep collecting data EVEN if the update says the units are shipping "tomorrow" and tracking is provided. In other words, the list stops gathering data UNLESS everyone has the unis in their hands already (or the money refunded).

That's interesting. I woke up this morning to find that an update was posted minutes after I went to bed.

There appears to be 3 groups of people who are being called out. One is an utter douche bag. One is just trying to figure out if he participated in a scam. Finally, one is all of us posting in this thread.

The first one, the guy who was trying to steal intellectual property or to secure technology or rights through extortion, is, unequivocally, a douchebag. The post spends much of itself explaining and lamenting this, and that seems justified as long as that version of events is accurate. From that recount of proceedings, it seems like that person did more damage to the campaign than any of the mechanical or supply setbacks that we've been informed of just by causing DHL to skyrocket delivery costs, assuming it's the same person.

The remaining quarter of the update is something I have an issue with, though. The second group that I identified may be a few people or one person, but it seems like an alternate interpretation of the same facts is that someone just wanted to vet information regarding the campaign during a time where trust between campaign organizer and contributors was strained. The third group is, unmistakably, us. Those dissenters who dare to take measure of how common our sentiments are, and organize to get some answers. I really feel like these two parts could've benefited from some extra thought. Generally, the worst thing to do to your unhappy constituents is to point a finger at them and tell them that everything is their fault and accept none of the blame. Two better ways to address the last group would be to either not address them and see how the crowd reacts to the rest of the update or to accept that they are contributors and try to see it their way. That's just basic customer service. You learn that if you ever work an entry level position in any discipline.

But my dual extruder, nozzle me, and cradle me perks never arrived, and I lost all hope of ever receiving them a long time ago. The campaign feels like a ponzi scheme. Tactics: gather a bunch of funds, send product to enough early contributors to get the word out to more people about this product via word of mouth advertising to entice a second wave of contributors. Second wave proceeds used to send a few more printers out, to keep up the appearance that anyone who is screwed over is an anomaly and was just "missed.". To entice a third wave of people. Etc

I find it alarming that the owner of Rapide 3D is named after the mission impossible film, but also, used to be an Ebay seller based in Hong Kong with username Ionnoi.digital (http://feedback.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=ionnoi.digital&ftab=AllFeedback) selling Apple parts, then moved on to starting campaings on IGG (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/micro-phone-our-amazing-device-is-now-available-with-bluetooth-4-0-ble-tracking--17#/) the comments on this campaign all refer to it being a scam! Then mission impossible actor went onto being a private investigator and went searching for MH370 flight, getting 100k USD for it (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/mh370-is-missing-with-239-people-on-board-help-the-families-find-the-truth#/) and then moved on to 3D printers? UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 3RD 2015: YOU'RE ENTITLED TO A REFUND BASED ON INDIEGOGO's LATEST REVISION OF TOS (http://%E2%88%9Ahttps://www.indiegogo.com/about/terms) OF THEIR SITE.

No matter how old your perk is, if Rapide3D is not refunding you, you're still eligible. No excuses. If you paid, you're entitled to a refund. Period.

...
Disputes between Campaign Owners and Contributors

Campaign Owners are legally bound to perform on any promise and/or commitment to Contributors (including delivering any Perks).. If a Campaign Owner is unable to perform on any promise and/or commitment to Contributors, the Campaign Owner will work with the Contributors to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution, which may include the issuance of a refund of Contributions by the Campaign Owner.. In the event of any dispute, such as a Campaign Owner's alleged failure to comply with the Terms or alleged failure in fulfillment of a Perk, we may provide the Campaign Owner's contact information to the Contributor so that the two parties may resolve their dispute.

...
Campaign Owners

Campaign Owners are legally bound to perform on any promise and/or commitment to Contributors (including delivering any Perks).

Now here comes the funniest part:

InDemand

Indiegogo may remove a Campaign from InDemand if Perks have not been fulfilled within three (3) months after the estimated delivery date, or if the fulfillment of Perks is delayed indefinitely.

Now the prize to the quicker: for how long has been the XL and the RL200 campaigns InDemand mode? 9? 12months? lol

Ethan sent an update and mentioned that bad comments just made more investigations to him and stopping him from getting the China production license. I really doubt if it is real and related as I never heard that China officials will disqualify your license due to bad comments. It could be money wise issue or political problem, but shouldn't be impact of comments. It is very skeptical. I think what Ethan really mean bad comments caused investigation from Indiegogo and he probably not able to withdraw further money from the registered account. I.e. He has no money to continue his business?

In my opinion Indiegogo is the real culprit.

Indiegogo is offering the platform to "Ethan Hunt", or whatever his real name is.
They clearly can know what is going on but prefer to make money on a scam.
Indiegogo is knowingly and willingly complict to fraud.
It is especially annoying that Indiegogo takes the side of Rapide with anything that can be known, just read the message boards of the Rapide One, MH370, Rapide Lite and Micro-Phone campaigns by mr. "Hunt".
I think we should turn to Indiegogo, since they keep making money on obvious fraud by supporting clearly fraudulent campaigns while being made aware of it. They act as a store that thinks it found a way to legally not deliver the products, the Rapide Lite campaign is by no means a startup campaign anymore.

The best way to target Indiegogo is by the press.
Someone should send a clear short message pointing to a for journalists interesting subject for an article about this to magazines like Wired. I think the central theme is that Indiegogo supports obvious fraudulent campaigns while being made aware of it and silences critical voices.
Probably we can put a letter together with a few people through this site.
Or each write an e-mail and send it at the same time.
Sending this message in the name of / by a few people would add to the weight of the message.
I'm willing to be interviewed and named in articles.

Given the repeated nature of this scam it is easy to understand this is a scam and for a magazine it could be a strong story, no doubts and a clear case of fraud and clear involvement of Indiegogo. In my case I have been thrown off the messageboard without any direct reaction from Indiegogo and also I'm not offered a refund. I do not get answers from Indiegogo on my e-mails. So I cannot communicate about it anymore, but also did not receive the perks nor refund. The last message I could place was on october 19'th: "Having a list would be a good start to start a class-action lawsuit. I think we must sue Indiegogo." Meanwhile I think sueing is not effective, it does cost a lot of money and will drain a lot of energy. Unless you have a lot of money, the law is on the side of the scammers. The lawsuit against a fraudulent campaign that did come through did cost more than 2 million dollar.

Actually I'm more disturbed by the MH370 campaign than the Rapide scam. I backed the MH370 campaign with 50 dollar (half anonymous at the time), but losing that money is not the point. I feel it is below any level of morality to build a scam on this happening. On that Indiegogo campaign message board you can read that in the past I have been asking for results. Currently I cannot access that Indiegogo messageboard anymore as well. However regarding publicity this is a strong subject. For a magazine it could be interesting to talk for instance with Sarah Bajc and other victims of that scam.

The Indiegogo / Ethan Hunt scams are together a subject that is substantial enough to be written about in widely circulated magazines.
We must be able to reach our original goal of stopping this overly clear fraud going, even now Indiegogo being made aware of the situation wants to continue it.

@ Bolsoncerrado - I agree that it is painfull to see how people want to hang on to a dream (which is not limited to this case...). I've been baffled by reactions that even call you a terrorist and accuse you of the strangest things.

My favourite mesage on the campaign board as a reaction to the "uprising" is by o5techman: "I’ve got $3,944 invested in you and intend to hold on to my nearly 2% “Stock” in “our” company. The resale value of my 200XL and 350 will be nearly $11,500 or about 300%! ! !" (I had to breathe for air from laughing when reading this the first time)

If people cannot reclaim their money from a credit card company or pay pal, than I would think it is lost (like in my case). I think there is no point in thinking in terms of still getting the perks or money back from mr. "Hunt". And only Indegogo and mr. "Hunt" can be blamed for that. We only were among the first ones to clearly state that the Emperor is wearing no clothes.

@ Bolsoncerrado
These are interesting links.
We must be able to get the Guardian to look into this. Between the lines I read doubt in the article, this is a good ground for a "revisited" article.

These lines caught my eye in the Guardian article:
- "It took Ethan Hunt eight weeks to find Sarah, even though he calls himself, in his online CV, an “experienced private investigator”"
- "Nobody will tell me the name of the firm they hired.”"
- "Ethan says the private investigation firm is still working for the committee, for free. He had just met with the detectives in Singapore. But they’ll eventually want to start getting paid again. “How are you going to raise the money?” I ask. “We’re thinking about maybe another crowdfunding campaign,” he says."
I noticed as a backer that this campaign actually did not deliver anything or even try to. The MH370 campaign only once delivered something resembling a result, and this was because I asked for it. You can read this on the campaign message board.

This is a very strange and also somehow agressive web page: http://www.katanatrading.com/thetruth.html
The following is unlogical if you want to get the truth out about something "The entire contents of this page, pictures, text and every other part are © Mike Kalinowski (Australia) and are NOT to be reproduced, copied or stored in any way whatsoever under any circumstances." This is also a strange "stipulation": "You may copy a link to this page to anyone you like BUT a link that brings the link receiver back to this webpage ONLY.". The guy seems to forget that everybody has the right to quote texts. Also there does not exist a law that tells how to link to an article, This guy is clearly nuts. Basically he states that you cannot store the page while he can take it away anytime, the intention seems to be that it cannot be used as a proof in a lawsuit. However I feel we have nothing to do with that site and mr. Kalinowski, we are not approaching him, we are not asking money from mr. "Hunt" nor are we anonymous.

The consistent agressive approach is the telltale sign of a hardened criminal fraudster. Mr. "Hunt" obviously is not a guy in trouble that tries to find a way out in a bad manner, he seems to be a pure criminal trying to profit from people as much as he can.
Unlike other people I have not been approached directly in an agressive manner by mr. "Hunt" (yet), if he does so I will immediatly report it to the police.

Reading all of this gets me even more into the mood of acting.

In the end I still do not want to forget that Indiegogo is the real culprit, they willingly and knowingly support fraudsters like mr. "Hunt" and take profit from it.

Re the airplane thing, all summarized into "we raised $100,000 and a single day of investigation is just $500,000"...

Its also funny re the Guardian posting things like how Ethan, a military "who has done bad things in the past", "smiled" on how he got the poor "family guy" to apologize by just "seeking him on the internet, telling him he found out he has family...and kids". How macabre it sounded all togheter, for f*cks sake.

Things in the article to note :
- He has a 10,000 sq ft office here, where he manufactures 3D printers. When business is good, 100 people work for him.
- He contacted her in May, after a CNN reporter included her email address in a tweet by mistake.
- Ethan told Sarah he’d already approached the crowdfunding site Indiegogo (http://landing.indiegogo.com/indiegogo-basics/?r=adw_www_gb_0000_adw00015_000000gg_002_2000_indi egogo&gclid=CJyojtGD7MMCFSYHwwodarUAFg) and been given the go-ahead, just as long as he co-opted some family members for credibility. He was approaching Sarah because he kept seeing her on TV.

People did not want to take 5 million from him (LOL):
- They tried to co-opt some Malaysian and Chinese families, too, Ethan says, but they weren’t interested: ‘They were against it from the start, because they believed the government was doing what it could. In an initial meeting, they asked me to just give them the $5m and go away. The misconception was I was offering $5m of my own money.’

This provides some insight into his psychology:
There’s a huge smile on Ethan’s face. “She couldn’t run away. She knew I could go there at any time. With people. That’s what they do in China. They take 10 people and go and beat you or steal things. I used that mentality. I’ve done it a few times and it works perfectly.”
“It sounds like this is fun for you,” I say.
“Yeah, absolutely,” he says. “China is a bit like the wild west. Seriously.”

Interesting pose and a statement that can be interpreted in very different ways:
- Ethan suddenly realises. “I must email Sarah,” he thinks out loud. “When I see Sarah cry on TV, it really breaks my heart. I sit there and think, ‘Why can’t I do more?’”

I believe the Guardian may be interested in a followup article, they can do the fact finding on him being a fraudster easily by now.
And not to forget: as can Indiegogo find out if they wanted to know what they are doing.

Basically a journalist does not need more than a link to this thread and find the way from here.
But a synopsis of what is happening and a list of relevant links (like to the claim list) could be helpfull.

It is remarkable that Indiegogo does not provide from their side links on campaign sites to earlier campaigns by the same owner.
Instead they seem to make it on purpose hard to find other campaigns by the same owner.
A search on the Indiegogo site on campaign owner name like "Ethan Hunt" does not even return results today.
When I backed the MH370 campaign I was unaware of previous campaigns by this owner.
When months later I backed the Rapide Lite printer I did not even realize this.
MH370 was the first Indiegogo campaign I ever backed, RapideLite the second.
Through the Indiegogo search I could not find the Rapide One campaign today, I had to use Google to find it on Indiegogo.
It is questionable why Indiegogo does not support reputation, anybody that runs a good campaign will be happy to build on that reputation.
It is questionable why Indiegogo does not provide the backers the simplest and most obvious way of checking on the campaign owner.

Well, you can narrow it a bit without the direct aid of IGG:

Bolsoncerrado,

That Google search does not turn up the relevant links for me.
My intention is to provide "qualified" relevant links, obviously you can try Google search but that turns up all kind of links which makes it hard to find the relevant ones.
What do you mean by your remark?

bolsoncerrado

That link just points out "Ethan Hunt"s inside Indiegogo domain.

I think Bolson's link is just searching through indiegogo for "Ethan Hunt" via google, not using indiegogo's search engine.

bolsoncerrado

That's it. If you use Google's parameter site:anysite.com you're forcing google to search inside "anysite.com" search results only.

Hence anything related to "any" Ethan Hunt inside indiegogo.com will show up, no matter if it's related to Rapide3D or the movie character.

I see.
My intention is to provide the shortest possible route to all the available facts.
Next confront Indiegogo one more time with it to provide an opportunity to react and if needed then send it to the Guardian and Wired.
Not a long story but pointers to the facts.

BTW. I think that these campaigns were so obviously fraudulent that IndieGoGo is liable even if their conditions say otherwise.

bolsoncerrado
11-10-2015, 05:50 PM
The whole IGG concept is in a gray area I guess.... Their TOS makes them non liable of whatever happens with the campaign at every and all exempt. Since this is a GLOBAL concept but they enter each and every government law on markets, they risk facing many "lawyers" ahead that may impose their own laws above what's legit "no matter what their TOS" say... It's just a matter of time one of their campaigns hit any BIG name on the law field or any DECENT journalist decides to act about this, because it's clear they're making money about FRAUDSTERS, ie living of dirty money made out of scams. And this is ILLEGAL no matter what color or font they choose to paint their TOS with.

Bolsoncerrado,

I think we should now approach Indiegogo together.
They have denied us access to knowledge abour earlier campaigns of mr "Hunt".
They have handled this case bad, only by keeping pressing on we have made it such that these fraudulent campaigns are closed.
They have not communicated aboiut it all.
We have not received apologizes or whatever from Indeegogo.
They seem to think that they can get away with it by just closing theat campaigns and hide in the dark.

I think we should turn our attention completely to IGG now.

bolsoncerrado
11-12-2015, 09:41 AM
IGG wont do anything, Henk. IGG can only be approached by lawyers upfront. They're a locable operating "legit" business and be handled as such. Rapide3D is a total different story and should be handled totally different. Depending on what we decide on the poll, I suggest creating a private area to move forward...or not.

If we're not moving as a group, I'll move individually, and for sure, stay "forever online" to be sure mr. Ethan Hunt does not create any further online business to cheat anybody else until I get my money back.

bolsoncerrado
11-12-2015, 09:50 AM
Also, Rapide3D left it pretty much clear in the last update:

"The reality is if contributors want ongoing support, upgrades and new models we need to be running our business as a business whether some approve of that or not."
or
"If contributors want... we need our business ongoing"
or
"If you need your printers...we need to sell"
or
"If you want what you're owed, we still need new money"

Ain't that hard, right?

I have the weird feeling Rapide3D was DESIRING IGG to close their campaigns so they can have the ultrafinal excuse "They did it! They! The bad guys! They managed to shut us down! Not us! They!". I'm anxious to see the last update from Rapide coming in 3, 2, 1....

Henk
11-12-2015, 11:32 AM
Bolsoncerrado,

To move further we should indeed operate from within a closed group.
My suggestion is to only invite the people that have added themselves to the claim-list up to this point and not allow new people in.

In any case it has been the decision of IGG to close the campaign, not ours.
The over 40 "select few" that did put themselevs on the claim list here did not take that decision.
We have just provided facts and pointed to them.
We are still only among the first ones to say aloud that the former emperor was wearing no clothes.
If the emperor had been wearing any clothes sure he would have been able to convince us.
As anyone can tell from this board your effort and support for this printer actually has been great, as can be seen from my post I have realy put time in this printer.
It is obviously absurd that our goal has been to destroy this printer.
On the contrary actually our positive commitment became the problem.

I don't expect an update anymore, but we will see.
It could be interesting to see what IndieGoGo allows him to publicly state at this point while for instance I cannot react because I'm thrown off the board. Given the MH370 link and other parts of this story a "no cure, no pay" lawyer could be interested in suing IGG.
Also the position of "the Crowdfund Network" is interesting because they provided a "seal of approval".
Let's discuss things like that later on in a CG.

"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." - Abraham Lincoln

Hi guys. My name is Michael G. from http://www.katanatrading.com/thetruth.html

Ethan Hunt and Mike Kalinowski seem to have removed the page. Please do not use my last name, I have spent years being attacked by Ethan Hunt and bloggers believing him that if you google me, you get scary results which has greatly affected my personal life.

I first came across https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/micro-phone-our-amazing-device-is-now-available-with-bluetooth-4-0-ble-tracking--17#/comments and instantly knew it was a scam. I reported it to IndieGogo and thought everything would be fine. Next day, guess who is banned from IndieGogo? ME!

Ethan Hunt told them I tried to extort him. So I was banned and he continued to scam people. He even used images of plastic molds which were for tupperware, not a phone. Yet they believed him. IndieGogo is 100% complicit in fraud with Ethan Hunt and Mike Kalinowski. They know he is and was a scammer and their action is to silence whistle blowers.

I am still banned from IndieGogo and being attacked:

https://pando.com/2013/06/30/thieves-and-scams-the-problem-with-crowdfunding/

There were more but most started believing me and removed their articles. Pando is still protecting him, they had a chance to stop Ethan Hunt and Mike Kalinowski from scamming you, yet they would rather attack me with click bait titles.

While he gets to continue scamming:

Lastly, I used to have a website detailing the "micro-phone" scam but took it down after being attacked by the media, banned by indiegogo and Ethan Hunt sending me and my children death threats which he actually admits to at

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/feb/28/flight-mh370-malaysia-missing-one-year-on-jon-ronson

“I was impressed that Michael G. publicly apologised to you,” I say. “How did that happen?”
“He told a lot of lies about me. So I did some investigating. I was able to tell him that I knew he had a family, two children.” Ethan smiles, but it seems a sad, weary smile. “He pulled down his website and I got a public letter of apology.”

bolsoncerrado

So, before I get lost, you're supposedly the one that is mentioned in The Guardian as being threated, which you sent an apology to Ethan?

If you publicly apologize to Ethan, why do you come back now?

Didnt you leave all this behind already?

michaelg

I still feel he needs to be exposed. The tide may be turning with more of you guys after him and him going into hiding (deleting http://www.katanatrading.com/thetruth.html is a sign). I'm proof indiegogo knew everything and let him continue and profited off his fraud.

I may have gone into hiding but the threat is still free. If I can help finish it I'd be glad but if I'm not helping I'll hide again.

I guess his apology was based on fear, just like the way he deleted his post. They're in Shenzen, China, but the factory is already closed and I'm afraid "forever".

The factory is not the people to chase the money from, it's Ethan and cohorts who may be trading as a registered business under a specific name or the business maybe owned by a company registered in a country.
I note the Indigogo campaign refers to Melbourne so I searched Australian Securities and Exchange Commission (ASIC) but Ethan's name does not appear on their register either as the registered proprietor of a business or as a company director but that doesn't mean Ethan does not control a business located in Australia. Whichever country he and his business is located in then an action for damages should be commenced in that jurisdiction without further ado.

bolsoncerrado
11-26-2015, 11:17 AM
Ethan's business is not in Australia, you can be sure of that. At this point I really doubt he has even a legit business license as I'm almost sure all this mess comes from a legal issue with China govt as he pointed out, but not with me, but probably with HIM and his LEGAL status there... But instead of recognizing this, he better acuses someone else of HIS faults...

Rest asured you're looking at the wrong country and places. And IGG is the LAST place to get help from.

Note that all invoices AND packages we got at a point came from Shenzen and any and all communication came from Shenzen and the katanatrading website showed Ethan in his office in Shenzen... I bet you he still is around there. Whatever he is doing now, I have no clue. Probably preparing his big move to another country??

Tell them that the Campaign owner failed to deliver perks, deliver refund and/or deliver any replies.

If the typical innuendo of "its not my fault, others managed to shut my company down" song appears, tell them its definetly not YOUR fault.

Anyhow, keep ALL correspondence, back and forth.

Hi! This is Matt B.
I am a "super early bird contributor" with 3 additional upgrade contributions totaling $1456 to this campaign which was due to deliver 7 months ago (they apparently did deliver about 70 units several months ago but mine was not one). The campaign owner have been periodically extending the delays (posting updates every 30 to 60 days) but are not replying to my request for a refund of my nearly $1500 - I just cannot wait any longer for this unit as it's window of need has passed. What are my options? Do I need to retain a lawyer??

Yes we all are considering moving to the next logical step. Feel free to vote on the user poll and help us decide. Definetly, fighting against a "ghost" seems a "lost war" at the beginning. We are just trying to get a logical step and just not let this happen "again", becoming ourselves the "team of loosers" like many many other scammed people in the IGG networks... Like I said there MUST be a case and a LAW protecting us somewhere where a company making money out of FRAUD becomes a fraudster automatically... and IGG being California AND USA based won't help them...

If you're aboard with us, count us in, we count you in too.

I tried contacting last week, and got the same nonsense as usual. IGG said they cant do anything at all because the campaign was funded, and that they forwarded the msg to the campaign owner. And of course, you can bet there as been and will be zero response from "Ethan".

On the bright side, I did contact my CC company last month, and as of 5 days ago they have issued me a refund for all outstanding IGG items. I dont know what happened behind the scenes, but at least I'm no longer in the bind with those suckers. And I will never use IGG again.

There's 50 people on this site who haven't received their perks or a refund and probably a lot more people are also in the same position. We don't need to hire 50 lawyers, we need to work as one unit. We should be writing this final time to Ethan for refunds and also to IGG to complain and request detailed contact information. Don't be worried by the failures to respond and nonsense information from IGG because those failures are exactly the information to take to the US Federal Trade Commission.
If the 50 people here put all that information together as one unit and present it to the FTC, it will be difficult for the FTC to ignore. The FTC have prosecuted several campaign owners recently for misleading and deceptive conduct.
Having the FTC head the charge will not cost anyone anything but whether the money is ultimately returned is another question so as Raidy and others have done we should also look at re-reimbursement from our CC companies.

CC company says "...they took place too long ago."
Some were also paid through Paypal, who tried to invoke their 120 day rule to do nothing. I argued that rule and I think they may be, at least, forwarding the complaint to the seller.
My letter to IGG demanding information has not been replied to in 10 days, I gave them 14 days.
Meanwhile, Rapide's latest information release, was obviously a result of mounting pressure, but fails completely to address upgrade perks or refunds. Again it's just a poor me, feel sorry for me, it's so difficult, but all will be well, just hang in there contributors, letter. In my view it's very unsatisfactory.

It was VISA thru my local credit union. The key was the fact the ship date kept pushing, so because of that, the 120 day standard time from purchase was considered to be reset. They lady was doubtful at first they could do anything, so I'm pretty sure it was the only reason I was able to get a refund.
You can tell them that release/delivery kept getting pushed (easy to use the IGG page as proof of delay - I sent in screenshots of whatever the current update BS excuse was at the time)... hopefully it may help.

Accepted 3 Rapide Lite 200s in lieu. 2 immediately stopped working due to board failure. Have been working with them for over 9 months to get two new boards shipped to no avail. Machines are useless without them. Asking for refund of $1400 for hard side cases which have not been received and will not ever be delivered as they were for the Rapide Ones which will not be produced. Also would like two new boards Valued at roughly $60 each to replace.

I just sent this to the Indiegogo Customer Happiness link (the title on one of their page read in french about security):

"Good day. My simple question is : Which security ? Indiegoggo's or customer's? I ordered a 3D printer (official supported by indiegogo) from Rapide Lite that has never been delivered. What Indiegogo is doing to help all these custommers that have been deceived by this campain get refund? One of the main thing that made me pledge for this campain was the fact that Indiegogo was backing Rapid Lite. Like most of us. If Indiegogo was supporting actively this, it couldn't fail. I want to get my money back. Please confirm that this will happen in a timely delay."

Update here - unfortunately, after 2 months of what I thought was a resolution, IGG's bank fought the CC chargeback - claiming their typical BS about them not being a store, and basically not being at all responsible for stealing people's money. So now I'm still in contention with them again.

Oddly enough they included printouts that basically proved my point for me (about perks not shipping). I sent back a letter to my CC regarding some of their storefront rules and other items objecting the denial, but I havent heard back (one way or another) since then. I'll update again when I hear more.

Got news from Indiegogo :

"Hello,We have received a chargeback dispute for a contribution that you made to the Indiegogo campaign ‘Rapide Lite 200XL (…)

A chargeback occurs when the biller claims that a charge made to their card was unauthorized, or the biller does not recognize the charge, or the Indiegogo campaign perk claimed by the contributor is not received. We believe that this chargeback may have been filed in error (yeah! you bet !) and we have submitted a rebuttal to your credit card company. At this time, the charge has been placed on hold pending an update from the bank, and it has been temporarily removed from your Indiegogo account. We have advised the campaign owner (how the hell they got in touch?) not to ship any perks (if applicable). We will update you as soon as there is a final decision made on the case. It can take up to 75 days for the credit card company to resolve a chargeback dispute. You can help expedite this process by calling your credit card company to confirm that the charge from Indiegogo.com was legitimate.

If you have any questions, concerns or more information about this contribution, please don’t hesitate to contact us by directly replying to this email.

Sincerely,
The Indiegogo Team"

I have been credited back for the perks and printer I ordered and never received. I hope Master Card won't allow Indiegogo to take it back again. We'll see…

To be continued … maybe.

Hello!

In my case, I did not receive any help from my bank or CC company, they invoke the 120 day rule to do nothing.

So looking for more options, at 01/29/2016 I filled out the online complaint form of the SFC (The Financial Superintendence of Colombia), I explain my case and for my suprise, a few days ago I received a positive response from my bank, they create a dispute for a chargeback to IGG.

Today I received the same @Mileu´s email from IGG, "Hello, We have received a chargeback dispute for a contribution that you made to the Indiegogo campaign ‘Rapide Lite 200XL..." my money is not refund yet but I think this is a step forward.

As conclusion, government entities could handle our cases and force banks to request a chargeback to IGG.

I will keep you posted regarding my refund status.

Have a nice day.

How about you bolsoncerrado? Can't you find a way to get your money back? Credit Card? Bank? Police? Mafia? ;-)

The problem I can foresee is that IGG lawyers get those requests from credit card company often. They know all the ropes. So, if they want to play mean, they have a massive amount of experience on the subject. I just hope Master Card has enough brain to outwit them. And I, for sure, don't want to go all the way up to the Supreme Court just for Ethan "the Crook" Hunt and against Indiegogo.

One more thing: Have I dreamt or somewhere on the Rapide Lite page at Indiegogo Ethan mentioned that he and Indiegogo were in some sort of agrement? Something like a prefered partnership ? If someone could point me to this exerpt That'd be helpfull. But since the disapearance of Mr. Hunt, it may have magicaly vanished from the page to never be read again.

Is this what you are referring to? Taken from Updates, over one year ago.

Future Funding

Our Rapide Lite campaign has already been a monumental success, it is now the highest funded Indiegogo campaign in Australian history and it is one of the highest funded 3D Printers in Indiegogo history. As a result of this Indiegogo has selected our campaign for their new pilot program called 'Forever Funding'.

Forever Funding is designed to help companies like ours get our products into the market and give the ability to keep raising funds after our campaign ends with no end date to allow us to keep building on the momentum started with a very successful campaign.

What this means for all our contributors is that we will be able to continue working on delivering your Perks for you now whilst raising more funds for additional upgrades and enhancements. This program is not open to all campaigns and is done via Invitation only which we are honored to have been selected.

Thank you Indiegogo for your faith in our team and willingness to see Rapide Lite become a solid brand in the market place.

IGG does NOTHING. IGG is just a vehicle between a "company" and a "funder". Once the relationship has been stablished and they got the money, they dont care anymore. You're on your own. You can chargeback, sue, whatever to IGG. Result will be the same. nothing.

Mileu
02-22-2016, 01:55 PM
Sorry to say that I don't totaly agree with what you'e saying Bolsoncerrado. If IGG had "only" been a "vehicle" that puts in relation a "funder" and a "company" The funder OR the company (or both should) pay a fee to IGG for their services of "in-betweener". Then, if there was (like in our case) some sort of problem we could retaliate against the company that doesn't deliver the promised goods. As I see it from my point of view, I may have a slim chance of getting my money back since I paid with my credit card, but the trouble is, I didn't pay Rapide Lite directly. I paid Indiegogo. My credit card company, therefore will probably stops at Indiegogo and never find the real actor of this tragedy. If this would have been as mentioned above, my CC company would have been certainly able to at least get in touch with Hunt and his bank account. Right now I doubt it can. In conclusion, As I see it, Indiegogo gets its share, pay the company and we can't retaliate on this said company because the payment has been done to Indiegogo which protects itself under rules solely made by and to the profit of Indiegogo. There's something fishy about that. I do agree that by joining Indiegogo I accepted the rules but now that everything's havoc I may reconsider those rules based on my country's and US laws, the credit card company's policy (If I don't get the goods, I get my money back) rather than on Indiegogo's policy. And I think that everybody should do the same.

And what did I just found :

A TROJAN virus attached to it! there is something fishy about this, I tell you.

This is what my anti virus found:
/Users/jj/Library/Mail/V2/IMAP-my name@imap.voo.be/INBOX.mbox/AF5A0251-B0AD-4973-87B4-880FEA4421F8/Data/0/3/Attachments/30394/2/SCAN_Invoice_my name.doc (SCAN_Invoice_my name.doc is the title of he email)

I'm on Mac and I never use Microsoft Word. I did convert it as a page document and cleaned the menace. Beware, some people may prey on your misfortune. Better not show too much of your infos on a public web site. They know how much you have paid, they may deduce that you still have more money and what not. Strange thing is: how did they get my email address and my real name? Oh yeah! the list! Knowing those public infos, they can easily trace me back.

BEWARE EVERYBODY!

If you get an email from SanchezCarole33@btopenworld.com (btopenworld - a fiber optic broadband company (WTF!)). This may be an attemp to drop a trojan virus.

Mileu,

The virus attached to that message just may mean the computer that was used to send you the message was infected... aka lacking of proper System Administrator.... aka switch your bank accounts to a more competent company....
and close your mastercard cards.

btopenworld is just an internet services provider, like AOL.

Not sure if it will help, but if enough of us file a complain with the governments' Internet Crime Complaint Center, perhaps there will be some kind of action: https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.aspx I just filed one today.

I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission last Thursday naming Indigogo for breach of agreement and Ethan Hunt for misleading and deceptive conduct. It wasn't difficult and there's an online form to fill out but the section where you write the specific details is quite limited in space so you need to be as concise as possible. Hopefully if there's any interest the FTC will request further details.
I doubt if my one voice will be enough so I encourage everyone to do the same and do it immediately so the FTC system notices it. The more people who complain the harder it will be for the FTC to dismiss it.

I'm not a US citizen and it doesn't seem a complete barrier to making a complaint. The FTC at least understand that business is global and that non US citizens can be affected by US companies.
Here's the portal for making a complaint that I used:
https://www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/submit-consumer-complaint-ftc

If enough complaints come from around the world, including from US citizens, then Indigogo and Hunt will be on the FTC radar, and if the FTC believe the matter has enough public importance they can, of their own accord, initiate legal action against those business'.

I must admit I'm guilty of being one of the guys who’snot always as quick off the blocks as I could be; but I've finally got myfinger out and filled in the FTC form too! Most impressively though is that Imanaged to use ALL the available characters in the last section where you getto have your say– yup – 0 characters remaining; I had a GOOD rant! Hunt,Indiegogo and even P.P got a serve! But it’s like Lapidary Artist said it needsmore people to complain, just go onto the website, fill in the information youdo have (you can leave boxes un-filled if you don’t know or aren’t sure) then;and I think personally this is the most important bit, just tell your trueaccount of what has gone on in the box at the end.

I'm not a US citizen either (U.K) but I don't think that matters. I submitted it as an online purchase. It was Ionnoi digital who took my payments according to my P.P statement. So they're my first port of call. I'd like to know more about the relationship(s) between Ionnoi digital Rapid-3D and whoever this Max virtual is though. I've written to Max Virtual to ask if the printers he's selling are new or liquidated stock i.e are they new and currently being manufactured and if so, by who? Ionnoi digital?

bolsoncerrado
03-28-2016, 08:44 PM
Flipster,

Given this guy Max Virtual is from his Facebook page, I bet you that the guy is living in Shenzhen and has been brainwashed by Ethan's ability of speaking... Just realize many of us wrote to this guy making him notice he was selling machines from a guy owing us $75kUSD and his reply was.... IGNORING us.

Is that a way of driving a business? Do you find yourself driving a business where a customer of yours sends you such an email and your reply is silence? Ditto.

IONNOI I think it's the first "company" Ethan formed for the Phone fiasco and the "electronics" part of the Rapide later. That was "disolved" when he stablished himself as Rapide 3D LLC on Shenzhen so I think you should have "sued" the company you dealt with on IGG...

We'll see if FTC connect the dots anyway though.

Hopefully they can look into IGG activities by allowing them to take funds from frauds and live from them.

Hello. Just filed a complaint to the FTC : "Indiegogo received the total amount of my contribution paid with my Master Card to the Rapid Lite 200XL 3D printer campaign. Rapid Lite never delivered the perks I ordered. Indiegogo has received its share of the tranasaction. I can't get my money back from either Indiegogo nor Rapid Lite (China). Indiegogo DO NOT act responsibly to our numerous demands as backers of one of their project. Indiegogo keeps part of the money fraudulenttly aquired and not answering our demands. I would like to see my money back. This is a big amount of dollars for me and for many other victims of this spam."

Way to go!

May be we could standarize the text? Or is it better we use our own words and seem less organized towards the FTC?

BTW for anyone else filling the form, this is NOT about a "startup not being able to success", this is about a SCAM company that is able to keep going selling stuff by other means before commiting to refund their previous backers or even COMMUNICATE what's going on or worst: lie and accuse us of being the "bad guys"!

Nice one Mileu, let's hope this snow ball is just starting its roll! There is a statistic that, as a generalization, says most things tend towards an 80% 20% split. In our collective case does that mean that out of 50 of us, only 10 will fill in the form? Or...and I hope THIS is the scenario... at least 40 of us will fill it in. Maybe we need another field on the owed list Bolsoncerrado... 'FTC form sent' ..? :-p

Ok guys. This will be my take on this campaign to help all of us and everybody that had a bad experience with IGG. I intend to make a sort of infographic that tells how this system works. How people can be easily scamed and how to avoid it. That'll be explained through this classic of the One Thousand and one nights ALIGOGO And The 40 Thieves. I can't name IGG for legal reason that you may figure by yourself. But it will be evidently clear who it is dedicated to. To make it a reality, I'll need your help.

Here’s the plan :

- Start a kickstarter campaign with the aim of creating a printed infographic that will be sent to all participants.
- One of those printed poster, with an acompanying chart mentioning all the names of the participants and losses through any campaign that has failed to deliver the goods from IGG will be sent to Indiegogo head quarter in San Francisco.
- Following the delivery of all perks, a high quality pdf and jpeg copy will be available for public download and distribution at large.

Here are some of your expertise that I could find usefull:

- English corrector (I’m a french Canadian based in Belgium. English is not my first language)
- Your advices on the content of the infographic
- Any legal advice would be welcome
- If someone knows how to best present this project (writing, engaging people, etc), this would be a real plus.
- Your participation on this particular campaign
- Spread the word
- Your help in distributing as wide as possible the pdf and jpeg at the end of the campaign

I’ll do the drawings, the draft script and find someone to help with the final script.

If this is a hit, then surely we’ll get diligent news from Indiegogo.

Sounds good ?

Nicely done Mantichore. I took note of your suggestion Flipster.
As of right now, I'm compiling every ideas that we want to include on the infographic. Let them flow! If you ever stumble on places where people relate bad experiences with crowd funding campaigns (every crowdfunding plateform) you can drop'em on this thread too if it's allowed (?).
Can anyone of you help with the english redaction of the final draft? The first kraft is on me. French language experience is a plus.
I'll feed you soon on the basic plan of the infographic and prep for my own little crowdfunding campaign.
Let's have us some fun but be aware that in any ways I can not mention by their names any crowdfunding platform. This funding will be aimed at telling a funny imaginative story, ways how CF platform should handle the complaints and suggestions on how to protect ourselves.

Hey all, sorry it took so long for me to update. A few interesting turns of events.

Shortly after returning the letter objecting to their objection, my CC reinstated some charges from IGG - Oddly with slightly different numbers, actually higher by a small amount. Seemed like maybe tax or something. I was prepared to challenge not only the reinstatement charge, but also the unexplained tiny increase as well.

But then a little over a month from that, my CC re-re-adjusted my balance back, restoring credit again. I really have no idea what was at play there, maybe it was a temp restore of charges until they reviewed the followup letter, but I'd like to think that was the end of it, as nothing has come up since then, and it has been a while.

whew!

Briefly can you write "Materials and Methods" section for filling the right form in FTC website?

Sure, I'm not pretending to know the right way to do this but here's what I did:

I went to the FTC complaint site: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
Then selected "Internet services, online shopping, or computers" --> "Online Shopping"
Then you start filling in the form, here's what I did:

1) Getting Started:

Checked the boxes for "I received merchandise late." and "I never received a correct refund."

2) Complaint Details:

Just fill in what you can:

How much did the company ask you to pay: Fill in total amount of money you paid (all perks and upgrades together)
How much did you actually pay the company (total amount obtained by the suspect/subject): Same as above
How did you pay the company: How you paid (Probably through Paypal or Mastercard)
How did the company contact you: I initiated contact
When did the company first contact you (mm/dd/yyyy): -Leave Empty-
How did you respond to the first/initial contact: -Leave Empty-
Company Representative First Name: Ethan
Company Representative Last Name: Hunt
Company Representative Title/Position: CEO

3) Company Details:

Here I added 3 Companies, as both Indiegogo, Rapide3D and IONNOI Digital are involved. I tried to fill in as much as I could find on the web but there seems to be very little info for IONNOI.

Company Information

Company Name: Rapide 3D

Company Address: 2512 Langham Place Office Tower Apt/PO Box: 8 Argyle Street

Company Email Address:

Company Website: www.rapide3d.com (http://www.rapide3d.com)

San Francisco, California

94103 USA

Company Email Address:

Company Website: www.indiegogo.com (http://www.indiegogo.com)

Company Phone Number:

Extension:

4) Your Information:

Fill in what you like. I added my full name, country, e-mail address and age range.

5) Comments:

Fill in a short text on what happened with this project.
You can copy paste this, but I suggest using this as an example to fill in your own text:

Indiegogo received the total amount of my contribution paid with my Master
