I need to do some high resolution scanning on small objects.

Any input on the 3D Systems Sense V1 scanner?

The handheld one looking like a kinnect? I do have one....pretty "crappy" if you ask me.

I got the V2,it does have trouble trying to scan really small objects and it does often loose tracking.
On bigger objects it works pretty good.

I need the best resolution I can get for small objects.

Right now I am looking at this:
http://www.rubicon3dscanner.com/index_en.html
...claiming 100um resolution.

I'm on a timeline.

Interesting... Rubicon RB-Rub-01 is discontinued according to the manufacturer.
They are working on a new version that looks more like the Eora.

- - - - - - - - - -

You're right, bo. Good find. That Eora will do and may be in time. And I'll have to buy the phone too.

Somewhere in the next 35 days.
Sounds like they did some really nice coding in the meantime.

35 days? Why? Do you know anyone at the team?

They put a May '17 on the campaign.
Things have been quiet since March.
And I am not receiving replies from Aora.

I'll back it if they can tell me it is a go for May '17.
In July, I won't need it.

- - - - - - - - - -

Now isn't that a fine kettle...

I get a Robotshop notification that the Rubicon scanner is now in stock...
And I have an email from the maker saying it is discontinued.

This belongs in the saga thread instead :)

- - - - - - - - - -

Alright, waiting for Eora to get their act together.

Don't think it will get here in time though.

TommyDee

Yes I did.
There is a May 3rd update on Kickstarter.
They are in manufacturing and still coding.
I suspect this will be July at best.

I suspect so. They have a very aggressive fulfillment schedule.
If I get it by end September, I'll be happy.
it is already later that I needed it so now it is just a new toy.

- - - - - - - - - -

Well now. Seems the Aero will be here before the end of the year.
Might have to buy an iPhone though since that is the direction of early development effort.

It's heeeeeeeeeeere... Still in the box. Need phone and software. Maybe I'll wait until the SW is mature enough before diving in.

TommyDee
01-23-2018, 08:46 AM
The Eora or a different scanner?

bolsoncerrado

Eora of course.

TommyDee
01-23-2018, 07:19 PM
Good, I'll follow you on this one then :)
Need a lot of feedback since I need to buy a dedicated refurb'd phone anyway.
Which also means I don't care if it is iPhone or Android. Whatever works best.

- - - - - - - - - -

Maybe we can attract an Eora crowd here as we blaze this tech. If it ever gets to 100um resolution as promised, I'll be happy.

(...still in the box)

Dont need to buy a refurb phone, just get the ipod 6th gen for a fraction of what an iphone costs, in the end ure not gonna use it to make calls rite?

bolsoncerrado
01-23-2018, 07:24 PM
Or even better, a second hand ipod 6th gen, even for less hehe

Now that's great input. Would have never thought of that.

The 3D scanner designed for easy to use. The Sense software V1 features support Mac and other feature updates such as upgraded auto-enhancement for correct brightness and color, improved scan tracking and stability. These features allows anyone easy to focus, share, crop, color and delete 3D data.

No Balsoncerrado, I am sharing our knowledge with others. Because I am using 3d printer from last 4 years. Also my friend is working on the toy industry where toys are making with 3d technology.
