I have two pro duo and mono cube with firmware 2.02, latest version of 3ds, can not install version 2.00 hacked via toolbox on version 2.02. or then I find the original 2.00 version of 3ds in order to install the hacked version 2.00. Thanks for considering my post i am in big shit Mr. Bravo for your job, i would be sharing in the future my printing experience with the print3dforum community

There are some tricks to forcing the firmware onto your CubePro printers.
I have not done this so please understand I am repeating what other people have said.
1: start the firmware update on the current version 2.02 with legit firmware. Once the firmware starts to update, replace the USB key with the hacked 2.00 FW with the same name as the 2.02 legit firmware. With luck (and probably a few attempts) the machine will continue to install the modified firmware after you replaced the file.

I would like to know the advantage of this firmware.
I read that the cartridges were no longer in production. Is this firmware a bypass and in this case should I have to use original cartridges depending on the material used ? thank you for your answers I am new to the subject but I learn quickly :)

Welcome to the forum Darkzero. For CubePro, one downgrades to v2.00. There is also a report that the chamber heater stops working. And if that is okay, there is a trick to actually loading the F/W. Oh, and cartridges have to be under 100% (initialized).
For CubePro users, I highly recommend the ReCube alternative if you have the skills to fabricate such a thing. This simply resets cartridges without messing with the machine.

In this case I will upgrade to the official version and downgrade if necessary using the technique indicated above.
The main thing now for me is to find original cartridges ;)
There's a CubeX cart in PLA purple for $19.99 shipped in the USA on eBay (not my auction).
Filament is probably bad but it has everything else you need.
A quick note on downgrading to the hacked F/W. It is a dance. You start the install of legit code; pause that and replace the USB drive with the hacked code. It has limited success where persistence is a key factor.

Very interested to know if the upgrade will also kill the chamber heater. That is another discussion where I am suggesting it was a corruption from the F/W swap rather than the norm.
:) yes in any case it will be usefull because I am on another project of modification of my e-scooter in order to make a new battery and the electronic part (bms mosfet ...) but it will be solder iron and impulse welding xD.
For the issue with heating chamber I would say to you but for the moment I do not yet have abs on hand ;)

I have a cubepro duo 3D printer with two ABS cartridges. I want to be able to print in PLA but it is not easy to find cartridges for cubepro. Do you have a solution to flash my chip and put in the pellet of PLA instead of ABS?

I am a beginner in 3D printing and I know nothing about electronics. So it's very difficult for me. But I'm learning.
If you downgrade the CubePro app to version 1.87, you can edit the file to fool the printer into thinking it is ABS when the file is made for PLA. Not a good solution but possible.
I can reset chips for you. You would send me the chips and I would change them to PLA. I would send them back with an included self-addressed stamped envelope.
Bets bet is to keep an eye on ebay for cartridges. The PLA filament will not be good but the chip will be.
If nothing else, I can make a couple of chips for you if you are in the USA. They would be $20 each as they are part of a complete Cube3 cartridge.
So you have options. Let us know which appeals most.
Long term, yes, there is a chip resetting tool in the works (ReCube Light) which can be upgraded to a pro version which will manage the whole series of settings on the chip.

Hello TommyDee, Sorry do I understand the reCube correctly. So its a arduino nano that reformats or reflashes the cartridge chip to 100% so one can reload the cartridge with aftermarket material? Does one reflash the chip each time or does the reflashing stop the cubepro machine from counting the material paying out? As the original cubepro cartridge only came with 600grams of material I am hoping to find a solution that allows me to print more than 600 grams.

Hey there RicciEU. Yes indeed, ReCube will read the chip, switch the appropriate bits and rewrite the code back to the chip. The chip will count down as normal if the firmware in the printer is original. There is no reason to change firmware on the printers. With CubePro, it is very handy to fill a cartridge with a subset of filament and also change the count of that chip to coincide with the actual filament loaded. You can refill to any level if you use the Arduino IDE interface.

You are also not the only one reporting the failed heater. It seems to be where the Firmware breaks when you swap the firmware file from normal to hacked. It is likely a common block size that interrupts this one function. It is not isolated while not universal. Restoring the original F/W should restore the system.

Because my firmware was in 1.0 and I couldn't locate a link to get 2.0 legit, I conducted the firmware upgrade with the modified firmware.

So i have bought a cube pro duo and not sure where to start, i have downloaded the new firmwear but i would like to make it open source and be able to use any fillament, the open source i guess isnt too much of an issue but fillament will be, i have a re-setter to re-set cartridge chips. Any advice on whats best to do or run for this machine. have to admit, those look pretty cool, just want to see it in action now.Quote:

Simplify3D is the optional CubePro software for an fee. We can take the print files apart but that requires a downgrade in the software and performance. S3D avoids this.
Review the forum a bit and find these options. They have a lot more explained than a simple answer here can do.
Appreciate your reply, managed to get a print out today which was good as i bought it second hand and didnt know the condition. Yes this forum does have alot of info on the printers. I found with the files can use other slicers and then convert on cube pro, beleive i have done something wrong as i cant seem to find INF support option. thanks again
Oh, infinity rinse material - it is nozzle dependent if I recall correctly. There might be older versions of the s/w that doesn't have it. It has been a while looking at differences between various configurations.

is there any way to control the printer itself?
I would like to heat up the inner printer environment with the internal heater.
This will help me dry my filament and I can avoid buying an additional filament dryer.

You can write a custom g-code (*.cubepro) file that only initiates the heater.

No. All it does is disable two valid functions of writing. Everything else will catch all the normal triggers.
