Hi Bob,
I am testing this system (explain on the first post) :
www.immaginaecrea.it/index.php/blog-wordpress/blog
it is an italian team which make one head with 4 differents filaments.
the 4 steppers are connected to a relay board, and the relay board to 2 extruders connectors on the mainboard
(the problem you must have the same printing temp.)
And if we connect the 2 Z steppers on the same connector on the motherboard, we could have a 5th color or support like PVA on a second head.
But one step after another, for the first step, 4 colors head is a very big challenge (I don't speak Italian but google traduction is my friend :)) and it seems well explained

That's similar to the Diamond extruder but with 4 filaments! Very nice! Keep us posted!
-
It is near the same.
The diamond extruder has 3 heatsink in 1 head.
The extruder of the italian team has only one heatsink.

Is anyone buying the diamond head? I'm thinking of it - I would have taken the Palette if I had gotten in at $599 - but it's a little too much for me now...
-
Like you Clayton, I was interesting by the Palette (mosaic) but it is too much for me too.
the pledge available mini 849 $
-
Remember that $849 is in CAD so it's currently 690USD but still expensive.
All of this stuff is making it hard to decide if I should go for the V3 extruder upgrade...
-
So the Diamond Hotend is less than 1/2 of the early bird price on the Palette with the three extra steppers about $230 - convert the Rapide over to bowden - take some weight off the 8mm X-wing and get rid of the sag at the same time - are there enough motor drivers on the board?
-
Mosaic manufacturing that is doing the kickstarter for the palette are only a couple hours drive from my house :( was really bummed out to see the palette costing so much had been waiting for a year and was so ready to buy one and possibly even drive down for a meet and greet if the mosaic team was willing to let me.

If you connect the 2 Z steppers on the same connector, you have 3 connectors available, one for each stepper

I agree - I sat on KS at 11:55 and refreshed until the campaign launched at 12:05 - it popped up and the early birds were gone... the jump to $750 was too much considering the January delivery - a lot of tech can happen between now and then. It's just down the road from me too - I'm in Toronto.
