    Post Cube 3 Resque Kit

    printcentral.PNG

    This should be fun...

We now have the ability to pretty much bypass every essence of the filament delivery system in the Cube3.

At last count, we have 3 functional hubs, 3 functional nozzles (PLA) 1-(ABS), Many Bowden tube options, and many cartridge-specific patches.

We are still dependent on several stock items most of which can be managed for a long life.
We are dependent on the nozzle, stock tubing, filament driver mechanism, and the chip.

    How to make them last.
Nozzles don't like filled materials. Carbon and metal filled materials will wear the nozzle's aluminum aperture.
Stock tubing; make it last! The short length provided as a take-up before the drive mechanism is a good source for near-virgin PTFE tubing. This is easily replaced with any 3mm OD and 2mm ID tubing. In a pinch, even 4mm OD would work just fine.
The filament Drive Mechanism should last a good long time. True, this is a sacrificial component, but I have yet to wear one out. The one thing that will stress the system is hard filament. For this, there is yet another mod. That being grooving the toothed filament driver.
And the Chip; if it goes to zero, you will need to use a reset solution which involves electronics and code.

And of course the pair of solutions for the measured spooling of media. Tomuro's solution is certainly favored by this author, but of course, the DIY F/W upgrade is certainly simplest.

LokBuild is the most effective commercial upgrade to date.

What is missing... heated beds! But that is another posting all together.

Let's see if we can put all the relevant links in one place.

Thanks for collecting these together in one spot.

There are likely others that can be added, right?
How about your exchangeable-filament nozzle set?

Has anyone looked into replacing the stock filament drive mechanism with a different one? One that would mate with the square drive shaft?

Oh of course I want others to contribute.
Kind of a catch all of functional upgrades for the Cube 3.

Still have some work to do on the grooving tool to include fitting-less solutions.
I am testing the "rebuild cartridge" now.

I was working on "proven & complete" solutions.
What I would prefer is to keep this from being a "work in progress" segment.
That is what makes these kinds of posts so difficult to follow.
I was going to let the design originators post their own as a means to sustain their designs.
Of course, design promotion for other people's designs is fine too.

Maybe this should be a Cube 3 Thingiverse Guide )
