    Using X-Ray images to create a 3D model

    Hi everyone, I have the possibility to access and use a Xray machine free netflix during my thesis project: tech news do you think it is possible to use the images android9 recorded to create a 3d model? Do you have any suggestions that could be useful ? (e.g. the software that would suit best my needings ecc..

    Hello Jacob and welcome to the forum.

    This is an interesting question. I know they can put an MRI together because the images are slices similar to a 3D print. It takes a bit of work but they can stitch together 3D data from the scan based on density and pattern recognition. Laser scanning finds surfaces to bounce a laser off of and records the distance of each point that reflects back to the sensor. From this, a 3D point cloud is made. Software stitches together the point cloud. I am not an expert in all things 3D, but how would you do that with an X-ray? I can possibly see an stereo image recognition solution with two or more images at slightly different angles of the object. Basically, you are looking for some very serious code that can extract data and manipulate it into something that you can extract 3D data from.

    Sounds like a fun project. Careful around those X-rays!

    Yay, do protect yourself from the X-rays. The radiation exposure is minimal, but gets accumulated easily when you are working on a project frequently!
    Do protect yourself.
