If you are using s3d slicer and printing with cube pro, what is the version of the slicer you use?

    Greetings Forum,

Stumbled across this thread this morning as I was looking around to see if OctoPrint or Slic3r was compatible with the Cube3 or to make them compatible with the Cube3. I'd have to say as of now I am striking out on that front. However, I found the link to this thread from one TommyDee started about the various decoder/encoder tools that have been built for these 3D Systems printers.

With that said, I will admit, I have not gone through all 35 pages of this thread (just the first 5) and I have to say this is some print interesting stuff. I like the concept of Slic3r and its ability to have some very cool plugins, like Gcode optimization, topographical printing (I don't think its called that; would have to reference the TechDIY video again), and adaptive layering. However, I haven't seen anywhere in my research that it is able to prepare BFB files. I wasn't sure if this community has already tackled the integration into Slic3r, as I saw it appeared there had been some work with integrating with Cura.

I don't want to duplicate work after all, hence I am reaching out. Also is the last link in this thread the latest encoder or is the one on GitHub that TommyDee linked in his thread the latest (the one from Mythandar, which I have re-linked below). I am going to make a separate post about OctoPrint.

Mythandar is my hero! I'd say start with Cura because it is miles ahead on generating the right format using the BFB profile. It has problems. We have to learn the commands and how they are used. None of these are one for one because they are working with older code. So far, S3D is closest to being compatible.

    Lightbulb Amazing work ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Hello guys!

Amazing work, just no words. I decided to dive in to the editor and start read from where all begins

And then read all this tread, it took me a few days, I was reading over night. And finally I am on page 35! Just amazing What can I say, you are super heroes goes all that way deciphering and all the stuff, and had a great patience answering one guy with screenshot how to open a file.

What can I say, this was interesting to read, it was intriguing exiting story.

My goal was to print ABS with PVA and I think I have enough info from the tread to try out by my own on weekends first before ask any questions

Also my next goal is to understand each and every bit of what going on in B2B and how it will affect my print, a lot of info, and many codes its hard to put it all together now, I will have to keep each and every code in my head to understand that.

So what I am gonna do. I will write an application using buddybu command line tools will get B2B data and will try to represent it in a different ways: with charts e.t.c then will try to decode M227 and other codes in words so I can just read what is actually going on without memorize all the code, and in this way when i will decode every code to translate in the app I will actually memorize them all

Will start on weekends. Maybe will ask a question later.

Thank you again for the great amazing work you have accomplished!

@TommyDee so I reached out to S3D and they said it does work "well," albeit i have no experience with it nor have I been able to find any specs or vids of people who have done it. What they did say though is that their BFB is compliant and then you pass it through the, and I quote, "appropriate community .cube3 converter." They then linked to the exact same MyThander tool I had already found lol.

My concern with Cura, and I had this issue when trying to help a friend with his PowerSpec from MicroCenter, was that the Cura Community profiles or a Custom profile I set up would only allow one extruder to be used. Issues with closed source firmware I presume. Only S3D had the right profiles and functionality for his printer. After switching to it from their garbage slicer, the results were night and day. So I am leaning to that at the moment, as I started the other thread, I am going to look into the ability of OctoPrint to put out BFB code.

    Hey @buddybu,

I don't have S3D. I haven't bought it. I wanted to get my printer working before I did, also try Cura and Slic3r first. Unfortunately I am coming up short on cartridges so printing the B2B or hun replacement to get it working 3rd party has been a no go. The cartridge I have is trashed from a previous person trying to modify it. I got it back together but as tommydee pointed out so parts I left off are actually needed. Plus the nozzle is all jacked up.

I will see what I can do about getting some files though.

Do some searching, there is some hacked versions floating around the net for S3D.

Hacked versions could be with malware or ransomware, not safe.

here I made repo electron chromium desktop interface on top of buddybu and TommyDee right now with empty window but soon will try to render BFB file read layers and decode technical values M*
map with human readable description with possibility switch values on click, and represent some values in graphs

btw take a look on my fork from octo-tree v2 when it was free:

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Feel free to make any comments on the libraries I have compiled to help make your life easier.

And in my younger, and more naïve, days, I would look for the version of commercial software for free, but now that I have been in the software business for a while, and having seen software purloined and shipped illegally, I have to give a big thumbs down for trying to pirate software. There are plenty of free alternatives out there, or just save your pennies and buy it.
