@crazycoder - thanks for that, really helpful.
So the link to Marlin you posted is your merged version of Marlin for the RL200?

Yes, it's Marlin 1.0.2 with the settings for RL200.

What about a "HowTo" for n00bs that want to try the alternate firmware?

    1. Download and install Arduino IDE and drivers, I used 1.5.8 beta version.
    2. Unpack the Marlin-1.0.2.zip file somewhere.
    3. Start Arduino IDE, open Marlin.ino file from the folder where you've unpacked the zip file.
    4. In the Tools menu set Board to Arduino Mega or Mega 2560.
    5. In Tools | Port choose your printer COM port.
    6. Click Upload button.
    7. Wait until compilation and uploading is complete.

Printer must be connected by USB and powered on, other apps (Repetier, MatterControl, Pronterface, etc) must be not connected to the printer.

I just updated my firmware with CrazyCoders modified 1.0.2
While I was there I also turned on the 'runaway temperature features' (extruder & bed) in this section of configuration.h by deleting out the comments as instructed i.e. remove the // before the text "#define"
Why this is not enabled by default I'm not sure because as we know there are at least 2 owners who wish it had been

    Sorry mate

It's a fairly new feature, but to my mind could have enabled by default by the Marlin firmware writers. Can't say if Rapide Lite were aware of it or not ???
