Looks like good stuff Hope some here gets some and posts results
Like how long you can use it for before you have to replace
thanks![]()
Apparently they've run like 50-100 prints and still going.
I've ordered one. Expect a review late next week![]()
I am waiting on a roll of Kapton tape from rapide....think I am going to ask them to not send it and invest in this instead, especially if your review is similar to others that have used it
Aliexpress has 200mm rolls of Kapton for sale at several stores. 200mm x 33 metres rolls are around $25.
Of course Kapton and painters tape will always be cheaper, but you dont need to mess with cleaning tape from the prints, replacing kapton (which is more "painful" than painters), etc. plus the adherence seems to work well no matter what filament u use....
We'll see....
I used Blue Painters tape for a few prints recently and I didn't like it.
- Without bed heated the PLA at 210C was not getting stick;
- With bed heated to 60C it sticks, but then it is very hard to remove the object;
- While removing the objects the tape detaches too easily from the aluminium plate.
I placed a new Kapton sheet, from the spares included from Rapide, and using the glass cleaning spray and credit card was acceptable easy to do.
I am very happy using Kapton and next time I will try a glass.
But looking forward to get more feedback from the BuildTak.
Also have ordered one. If it works as claimed it will be like magic.
Joao, did u try hairspray? I cant see why people would like add glass and get less temperature on the print base...
I do think i've seen a similar material on this buildtak in a youtube video of a 3D Print UK fair... so i guess thats what the pros use![]()
I didn't try hairspray, I don't have any at home, but I also read that the hairspray was to improve adhesion? The Kapton has already a sticky side (it was hard to remove the protective plastic from it), and it glues very well, too well.
The adhesion of Kapton to the plate is perfect, not a single bubble, removing a very large part was easy and the tape didn't move a bit.
