    I forgot to check the layer height but you are right, 70 micron layers would be even more sensitive to this first layer treatment. Thanks for bringing that up.

    Your appreciation is exactly why I put these fixes on Thingiverse jagsta Enjoy your Cube adventures!

    Sofa Kingdon, that has a starting layer height of 450 microns.


    One trick I think Cubify uses is slow shell traces and quick fill. This is part of a quality function. Slower cosmetics is always a good idea. You can use original Cube3 files to see what the range should be when dialing the recipe. I like this idea a lot.

    Do you have S3D talabarte89? I do not have it so I cannot say. I do understand the process. There is a profile for CubePro in S3D. There is no profile for Cube3. Cube3 profile can be made from CubePro profile. Just change the header information and some settings.

    Please become familiar with the file structure of the Cube3 print files. This is how you open up the machine. S3D provides the tools to mimic these files but you still have to encode the files. All those tools are available on this forum. There is no one-solution-zip-file-video that covers this topic. We very much would like to get to that point. Would you please help document making this work?

    Good stuff mperroud. I didn't know about the trick to add cubepro-encoder to the "Send to" list. Very handy!

    Tallabarte89, I am also fairly new to Simplify3D but, with a little work to quality settings, the end results are amazing. I'm currently trying to dial in PETG now but I feel really good about my PLA settings w/ this Overture black PLA. My 200 micron resolution prints using S3D are "money" and much better than the OEM slicer prints at 70 micron resolution. S3D has a quality guide on their site that is exceptional. With a few minor tweaks, PLA was really easy to dial in.

    Here is a cheat sheet to get you rolling with Simply3D.

    You need:
    1. Simplify3D (installed with CubePro selected as printer)
    2. FFF profile file from Sofa_Kingdom above (great start but some minor tweaks may be needed)
    3. CubePro Encoder - https://github.com/fritzw/cube-utils/releases (only need cubepro-encoder.exe)

    Using the Cube 3 profile in Simplify3D, build the gcode (Save Toolpaths to Disk) for your selected model. This will save a .BFB and .GCODE (not used) file to the location you select. Once saved, you simply drag the .BFB file over cubepro-encoder.exe, select "open with" and *poof* it drops a .cubepro file with the same name. Rename the extension from .cubepro to .cube3 and it's ready for the printer. I believe there is a batch file that encodes and then renames the file to .cube3 but my computer doesn't like it so I just do it manually.

    S3D really opens this printer up and gives you complete control. With a little trial and error using the quality guide, the print quality is more than I knew this little printer was capable of and added the ability to use other materials. I'm glad I finally took the plunge and dropped the 150 for it.

    This requires MSFT VCruntime. Since 32 bit VCruntime is most commonly used by software developers, download the 32 bit version of the encoder. If you receive a DLL error, you can download the VCRuntime package here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=52685

    Using mperroud's trick above, you can quickly make a "Right click - Send to" shortcut for the encoder by placing a shortcut to the encoder EXE in "shell:sendto" (Windows explorer).

    Download a Cube icon image and convert it to BMP to make this shortcut pretty (right click/Properties/Customize/Change Icon).

    Hello Everyone. I'm Juan from Argentina.

    I'm using the cube3 encoder (from mythandar) and S3D but i don't see changes when modifying temperature. I've printed the same test over and over. The only change that i've made is the temperature between test. I don't see a change in quality. The only thing that i see is a little bit of stringing on the lower temperature printings

    So far, i'm using PLA and temperatures between 230 and 190 degrees (celsius). The PLA that I use is from PrintALot (a national filament).

    I can't post the photos on the forum, don't know why.

    I've also printed a temperature tower, varying the temperature down 5 degrees every 40 layers, and don't see any change. The photo of the tower temp are in the shared folder too.

    I also attempted a few "Temp Wizard" prints and noticed temperature changes during prints do not appear to have any affect. It appears that only the initial layer 1 setting temp is used for the entire job. May be due to actions the encoder takes? Checking the S3D BFB vs. the Cube3 encoded file, which is then decoded to see the gcode would be helpful. It would show whether the temp change commands are removed during encoding or malformed.

    The test print pictures you shared all appear to be benchmark prints. On one of the pics, it seemed that the 200 degree temp print did not have any of the warping seen on higher temp prints. That's probably a good place to begin (200 is where I landed after many test prints). Personally, I would focus on something simpler first to ensure temp, extruder multiplier and other basic settings provide good print quality. Once my basic test prints looked great, I knew I could begin looking at retraction, coasting and bridge settings. I haven't even messed with bridge settings since the S3D support is so good.

    The quality guide on the S3D site is really good and it will even suggest a starting point and range for advanced settings to correct specific quality problems.
