Activation Code
I just got a new Cube 3, thought it was a bargain, however I have not been able to activate it, I use https://www.3dsystems.com/support/cubify/activate which generates the 4 digit code, however the printer says its not the correct code, I have double checked the serial number entered. I have tried contacting 3D systems but so far no response.
Does anyone have a work around for this?

Check to make sure the serial number on the bottom of the cube matches the box it came in. This is the first instance of a new unit not getting a valid response code.
I do not know of a work-around directly. However, there was a hack on OpenBuilds that claims to have solved it. Again, too rare to really keep track. It has to do with two .bin binary files on the internal SSD. Hopefully 3D systems will step up.

The serial matches the one on the box, although it looked brand new and was wrapped in the box it appears to have been dismantled, there are pry marks on the plastic case which I don't think would have been done at the factory, this is a bit suspicious.
Hopefully 3D Systems responds to my contact.

Any recourse with the seller? This is DOA.
If someone swapped a motherboard there will be a mismatch. Just saying.

As the last Option i Happen to have a Board with hacked 1.14b already activated with original card inside... If you want to Stick with original Firmware....

Thank you Razor81, I have not heard from 3D Systems so would like to try this to see if it would work, how much do you want for it?

Yes, I read somewhere that if the MAC address changes the activation code won't work. 3D Systems put far too much protection into their devices, why even have the activation process?

You can also go through my threads, you will find enough Info to rebuild the cube to opensource Electronics... If you are situated in EU i can send the Board to you

They wanted to make money selling proprietary filament to make $...
Just a failed judgment of Marketing, sell good Machines with crappy Firmware and proprietary crappy Software... So if you Look at retail prices you pay for the Firmware and Software.. Machine is worth 300 US Dollars max considering the components...

Good hardware with crap software = useless combo.
You can get decent results with S3D's sliced files... but then again, the type of "bowden" construction and retractions kill the nozzle internals, so you need to rework that too....

Though making it open source appeals, I just don't have the time (And perhaps all the skills needed). My kids will mostly be using it for small projects that they design in Tinkercad, so an oringinal board with hacked firmware would be ideal. I have a forwarding address in the UK, I will PM you with the details, I am also happy to compensate you for the part and postage.

The best approach would probably be to get one of those "all in one, drivers included" boards which are open source and marlin-able and re-formfactor them to the size of the cube with the appropiate circuit board editor....
