Does the CR-10 500 need the two z-axis lead screws?

I am fixing the 3d printer of my uncle. I was wondering if the CR-10 500 needed the two z-axis lead screws. It doesnt really do anything since it only uses 1 motor. Can I just remove the non - drive sided lead screw or do I have to do something with it?
    Thank you

Welcome to the forum graham022. Normally the second lead screw is to keep things in sync so it doesn't bind.
