    General Knowledge Questions

Are all Cube cartridge chips the same? = as in part number , and would I be correct in assuming that only the onboard programing is different for each Cube system?

On the motherboard, I read on a post here that there is a sim card (i'm assuming micro) and on it is the OS? and on that same board is the Wifi card?

Does anyone have an image of the sim for backup?

What is the size of the of the sim card?

Does anyone no the make and model of the wifi chip and is iot modular?

The reason for all these questions is I have 3 Cube printers at this time = An EKO (working) Cube 3 2nd Gen (working) Cube 3D 3rd Gen (not working)

Cube 3D 3rd gen problem with WiFi not connecting and wont print! Keeps telling me there is a new cartridge and I have to perform these things and once I do that it just keeps telling me the same thing

Answer to question 1 is yes - Everything from CubeX to CubePro used the same DS28E01 IC chip and the pro version of the chip programmer can change printer model and filament type/color.

I think the WiFi is built into the printer board and like everything 3DS does is proprietary but I think the issue described above is a chip issue. I've seen the same issue and repairing then resetting the chip corrected it. As a note, I believe even 3DS recommends against using WiFi for printing although I know some people who do use it successfully. It might be worth trying to print from USB. If you have the same issue then you know for sure that it isn't the WiFi.

I don't believe copying the SD card image from one printer to another would work. This is moot, because your printer doesn't appear to need it, but there is a way to 'clean' the SD card so it's ready to accept a new activation pin and reset itself. It involves removing the SD card then saving a file with a specific name to it and then placing back into the board and booting. This might be useful to someone with a brick or S/N error.

I purchased my chip programmer on eBay (it's well worth the money) but you'll also find plans to build your own here.

Thank you for your prompt reply and the wealth of information! The printer in ? I did try to flash the firmware when I got it but I believe the previous owner had tried and failed! But just a guess since I bought as parts! since I have to fungshonning printers I'm not in a rush to get this one going. I bought the other two as parts not working but they were pretty easy to fix! Both the EKO and 2nd gen were printhead problems! Broken wire and a jam! I'm using both the EKO and the 2nd gen on WIFI and the bothe are work great I'v printer out 2 of the cartridge drive mode and have them working on the EKO
I have a basic Recube flasher I built 3 weeks ago and it's working fine but I should find the files and upgrade it to Pro just so I can use some these extra chips one the cartridge mode
again thank you for the info

Um, that is a hack installed. Use your ReCube with Arduino IDE and set the cartridge chip 'manually' via the terminal interface. The hack doesn't allow the Cube3 to initialize the cartridge. Start at 98% and all is good.

The Cubify Print program has a settings tab that allows you to choose Draft, Standard, Premium and Custom, 200 micron 70 micron! I can only set set Draft, Standard and Custom at 200 micron! what do I have to do to get Premium and 70 microns

Just select the 70um options and ignore the 3 standard modes. This will set the mode to custom.

Thanks Tommy for the reply! I probably should have told you up front that it's a EKO! but I recalibrated the unit and sent the table cap with a piece of paper and everything is working really nice now! Prints have great quality and nice fine even lines!

You can turn your EKO into a CUBE3. That's what I did with mine.

Aha - Ekocycle doesn't support 70um. It simply shares a platform with Cube3.

Well sir you're absolutely right on that one Tommy! Was looking at the bios! From what I can see no support! Sorry for the late reply but I was in Seattle all winter working and sense I've been restoring a 105 year old house here in Buffalo for the past 5 years! I've fallen behind in my todo list! No rest for the wicked lol! Dam lumber prices are killing me though!

  11. Thanks TommyDee thanked for this post
