    RL Filament Spool Holder

Why stress your filament by making it bend almost 90 degrees when feeding it from below, print and install my 'RL Filament Spool Holder' with it's crossbar or optional rod holders.
Fits snugly on the RL's aluminium frame and feeds the filament down into the extruder from above. Takes both the large 200mm dia spools and the smaller chunkier 160mm dia spools.

    Bob,

I've have had to print quite a few of these already... For an unknown reason and even If I use 100% infill, the holders tend to break on the area where the frame meets the end of the clamp... I'd suggest you could add external reinforcement to the outer walls of it, so it does not collapse externally? like in the castle's walls, you know?

Hmmmm now that I think of it, it may have to do with the orientation i printed the pieces... given the X axis where printed the same path the spool is being holded they bend too easily... dumb me!

    doh

Like you mention, you could try printing them laying down so that the layers are at right angles.

No need to "lay down", just to turn them 90º so X is printed in the Y axis direction hehe

Won't help you will still have the layers running around the model.
