XXL Modification- stretching the z axis
Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm not sure if those will fit. Upon further investigation I found the chrome rods are having some impact as well. They also are not perfectly strait. This may be even a bigger impact than the lead screw.
The more I look at it chrome rods for a guide are not very good. Especially for long distances.
I will install the old rods and lead screw temporarily until I find a solution. I need to print some stuff. My big item will have to wait but atleast I can print the small stuff still.

XXL Modification- stretching the z axis
I've thought about it and seems for 1000mm travel a regular 8mm chrome rod is to flexible. So, I'm thinking to do a linear guide or linear rail. I'm leaning towards the rail because it's cheaper. I would have to precisely cut the bearing holes larger on the x wing to accommodate the 16mm rod and bearings. The attached picture is of the linear rail. I think this solution will yield better results.
