Interesting note on the security chip:

Technically, this should mean that we can intervene in hardware.
What does that mean for how the software will respond.

    Thanks for finding that, Tommy!

I've been out of the office the last couple weeks, and have some personal items I'm taking care of over the next couple weeks, but I'm hopeful to learn a thing or two about this printer after that!

On a side note, what is everyone doing for their print heads and extruders? I haven't been having the best of luck with mine and am considering my alternatives. I have a few ideas a (ordered some teflon tubing yesterday, so next week I'll probably work on some parts and post them) on keeping the original filament housing and extruders.
, but would be curious to hear what others are doing.

Adam, your idea is sound on the replacing the constrained filament line.

There is no reason not to use the stock caterpillar line from the cartridge.
You might put a nylon tubing over it to help hold it shape as it traverses left to right.

Then just adapt the head the pull the tube straight out the top.
It will want some kind of strain relief so it doesn't kink.

I think 3D Systems is pretty proud of getting rid of that ugly loop.
For the most part, it is working. I doubt this is a primary contributor to the failure to extrude, though.
I've made little clips to make sure the filament stayed within the bounds of the printer.
No real difference there either. Just break in the new cartridges so they feed comfortable.
