newbie with an iMac - startup guide anyone?

I am completely new to 3d printing. I was hoping they had a basic setup guide beyond the assembly one. Haven't found any. Has anyone got theirs up and running on a Mac? If so would anyone be willing to post a short guide? It would be much appreciated! I downloaded Repetier-Host for Mac and Cura and Slic3r, but I don't think it's communicating with the printer and I'm not sure what to do...

    I do have an iMac.

I downloaded both Slic3r and Repetier, plugged in the USB, power outlet, turned on Printer, loaded STL on Repetier, sliced with Slic3r, connected to printer, launch Print, and voila!

Just add the settings required for each screen and you're done.

Also, are both fans on the extruder supposed to come on when you power up? Only the one on the bottom is right now for me...

Do you have to download the driver on Mac? I'm on windows and first had to download the driver before I could connect to the printer.

that's a good question, I'm not sure. Rumba driver? seems like I need a driver and/or firmware programmer...

You dont need drivers for mac and you wont need to update/upload any firmware. I've had the same issue that its not connecting. Just make sure that you have the right Printer Settings in Repetier. You may also need to:
    - Restart the printer
    - Unplug and (re-)Plug in the USB
    - Disconnect and (re-)Connect to the printer in Repetier.

Try a different USB-port, that works for me sometimes

Tried all that several times. Repetier will say connection opened, but says 5 commands waiting, and "Unknown printer firmware. Waiting for temperature". Is that normal? What am I supposed to do?
