I tried that with the Cube3 and it does not work. Basically if you already registered your device via wifi it knows there is a newer version.

    Not really.
There is an XML file that states the current version of the hardware on the internal SD.
And the Cubify software is what pings on that.
When you downgrade your FW, you also need to downgrade the Cubify application.

Ah ya I didn't downgrade the software. That must have been the trip wire.

To me it sounds like you would be much happier with a FrankenQubePro.
In that case, rip the motherboard out and throw it as far as you can.
Now put a real printer engine on there.

Do you really care what it looks like when it's free-ish?
To some extent yeah, there's a pretty wide space in the bottom to contain the electronics and a lot of options for neat cable management. The hardest parts about it would probably be getting the extruder & hot end to work similarly to how it works on the cube pro since it looked like they use their own custom chip and drivers connected to the components.

Another challenge might also be the chamber heater too but doesn't seem too bad.

I just want to say a MASSIVE thanks for this software hack! It works perfectly for me!! I'm still in the middle of sorting out proper filament feed/guide (had a few teething issues) but that's down to me so to speak. The firmware hack is doing it's job perfectly.

Except I'm an Apple fanboy, and can't be arsed to setup a VM just for that haha I mostly print in PLA anyways so it's no biggie for me.

I forget who pointed me to this hack, but so happy I discovered this. I'd stopped using my cube because EVERY F*****G time it sat still for longer than 2 days of no use it would clog and take forever to get going again. To the point where I gave up and had been trying to sell it for a while. Since finding this though, I've hacked the FW (my 2 cartridges were at 53% and 48% so all good) and now just sorting my feed out. I didn't order enough pnuematic connectors so last attempt to print messed up as the filament was escaping and not being pushed into the filament. Urgh such a bad design to be pushed from such a distance compared to the usual printer being pulled (well, still pushed I guess, but so close to nozzel it looses no pushing strength)

I thought you were referring to this: http://www.print3dforum.com/showthre...odifier-*beta*

But re-reading it, I think you meant modifying of the nozzle? Eg drilling the top and putting in a PC4-M6 or M5 pneumatic connector?? If so, already done it lol... Just waiting for another set of connectors for the filament end and I should be set
