Stock tip; stock spring, stock length of tubing (3mm OD PTFE optional), 5mm thread push-to-connect fitting with caveats.
Unmodified housing on the left, and modified housing on the right.
The reason this works is because the short length of tubing is trapped within the modular nozzle.

Many of the 5mm thread fittings have a hex drive that is 2.5mm.
The 3mm tubing will not fit through these fitting.
This is one of the important elements that makes this work.
And is required to have successful hot-swap capability.
The challenge is cutting a decent 5mm thread in the housing.

This mod is highly dependent on the fitting you obtain.
The challenge is not the thread, per-se, but the counterbore/flat area.
You can flatten the whole top with a file if nothing else comes to mind.
Notice where the 3mm tubing is in the picture?
In the end, this is what the insides look like.

The tube should only be 1/4mm shorter than the path allows.
We're still working on the how-to and where to get materials.
This should give you a working knowledge of what this is attempting to do.
And it works!

Read this today and thought of you 
3D printing/modeling pro tip: Any bolt, nut, screw, hinge or most any other mechanical item you might need is probably available from McMaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com). They provide STEP models for pretty much everything. Need a 1/4"/20 TPI hole in a plate? Download the screw and subtract it from what you're printing

where did you get those fittings?

Mine are from McMaster-Carr. Way too much money. They really are not robust for this function.
Just about any Chinese PC4-M5 will work.
You just might have to move the nozzle next to it when you install or uninstall the second nozzle.
I got these (link below) on Amazon too. They work, but don't spin. Most don't.
You plug in the tubing after you install the nozzle.
This is a safeguard to avoid Teflon bits from clogging a nozzle.
This needs to be part of your change plan.
My plan is to leave the nozzle in place and plug in another color...

)) please update the first post including the HOW TO guide on drilling, guide used, etc? SO we can have a COMPLETE, FINAL solution "for dummies" using the Extruder Hub mod and this?
