I am vested in Print-R-Bot filament for general purpose. It is a little touchier about sticking to LokBuild. I back it with CubeGlue.
Also liking the 3D Solutech for its vivid color. Most like the 3DS stuff yet.
More 3DS filament from Cube 2 carts is not out of the question for me, BTW. Often see some good deals. You can scavenge the filament from the case

Oddly enough... I also like the cheap 3D-Pen packs! Gives you tons of colors and plenty of length for some quick prints where color diversity is welcome.

Thank you so much for your help!
The printer comes with PLA cartridges.
If I want to print in ABS will I need 1 or 2 ABS cartridges to use the chips?
I figure ou I would need 1 for 1 color printing and 2 for 2 color, right?

There are some options, such as the temperature changing app, that can change the .cube3 file temperature settings.
This would allow you to use a PLA chip with ABS filament loaded.

The premium chip reset tool may also change a PLA chip to ABS.

Two color prints requires 2 chips, yes. But before you go nuts with ABS, know the limitations without a heated bed.

Do you have a link to the coding? After reading some post I was under the impression that changing that code was creating problems.
I would prefer that over buying a cartridge just for the chip.
I understand ABS isn't ideal with this printer but I know my kid will want to mod it soon or later and ABS cartridge may not be easy to find at that point.

    Now I understand

The temperature change app is by Mythandar. It is posted somewhere here on the forum.
I haven't used it but I am not sure how the conversion app wouldn't work.
Then again, if you get a good deal on a 3DS ABS cartridge, why not go for it just in spare parts.

The chip change hardware is also posted here on the forum:

The advanced options comes at some cost but not sure how much.

When I last talked with Tomasz, his Pro version was on a contribution basis. Send whatever you think it is worth. I am assuming this is still the case. Drop him an email.

Comparing a new/used cartridge price of around 50$ loaded with lousy filament, his ReCube software allows you to change
any cartridge chip to what ever you want. You only need two cartridge chips, one for each extruder.
And he is always there for tech support.

Thanks for sharing that. I have all the parts. Just need time with a soldering iron and some FW uploading.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Rekindle version so making a donation to unlock the rest is a simple thing.

I have a CubePro and I am trying to install the hack to be able to run a spool of filament. Every time I try to install the firmware hack it says firmware failed and it will not update. Any advice and help will be appreciated. Thank you.

You might consider the tips a few posts back on how to downgrade firmware using the pause once the legit FW update gets started.

We tried this already and it still will not work. Everytime I try to download the file it says it is for the Cube 3 and not the CubePro. Also it looks like the Mac version and not windows.
