Cube3 Filament *SOFTWARE* Hack is here!!!
This is our first release of the Cube Toolbox for Cube 3 and Cube Pro firmware.
With this tool you can extract, repack and of course patch the firmware.
By patching the firmware you can stop the counting process of the filament chip and thus use filament of your choice.
We do not take any responsibility and we are not liable for any damage caused through use of our Cube Toolbox.
Working firmware version for the patcher are:
Cube 3: v1.14B
Cubepro: v2.00
NOTE: 1.11 is buggy. IT WON'T CORRUPT NOR RENDER YOUR PRINTER UNUSABLE but we have taken it out for precaution. It's just a matter of fixing filament type and color properly. We'll be right back with you shortly!

1. Download the CubeToolbox_v1.0.zip (currently only for Windows)
2. Download Cube 3 1.14B *OFFICIAL* Firmware
3. Open Firmware in Cube Toolbox
4. Patch firmware
5. Copy patched firmware file to usb stick
6. Flash firmware by going to Settings -> Firmware screen (HowTo?)
or
Usage / Howto (For Cube3 and lazy/MAC users):
1. Download Cube 3 1.14B *PATCHED* firmware file (current patch version: 1.0)
2. Unzip patched firmware file to usb stick
3. Flash firmware by going to Settings -> Firmware screen (HowTo?)
Patcher Release Notes:
v1.1
- Removed MaterialCode verification (e.g. Print ABS files with PLA Cartridge) (Cube 3 only)
- Activated Telnet (Port 23) (no username / password needed) (Cube 3 only)
v1.0
- First release!
Know Issues:
- Printer Cartridge has too be initialized first. This means that 100% Filament Cartridges will not work. This is due to by-passing the writing routine in the firmware.
Next Steps / Todo:
- Find the routine for material verification and patch it. Right now you can only use material which is also programmed in the chip. So if your .cube3 printfile is for ABS you can only use ABS-Filament. If you use PLA filament the extrusion tempereatures are too high and your nozzle will get damaged / clogged.
- Make a GUI for the Configuration XML files of the Cube Windows-Software to change extrusion temperatures and print speed.
- Generate a working config file for simplify3d for Cube 3 and Cubepro

Thanks to Cube_3 for this modification. With this you can change the tubing to the extruder and use the cartridge without the top casing.

I wanted to wait until I got confirmation that other people had tested this, but I accidentally flashed my firmware with this. I have tried updating my firmware through USB in the past using the official file from 3DS and it said it couldn't find a valid firmware file. So I just wanted to see if this one would show as valid, but not flash it yet. Well guess what? Once it finds the file, it doesn't ask you if you want to do it. It just does it!!
So after flashing it, I tried to do a test print. I specified that it is PLA in the Cube Print software and I have a PLA cartridge in the printer. The printer shows that the job I saved is ABS and when I hit print, it says "This print requires ABS material".
Any ideas?
Thanks for the hack by the way!

I flashed it back to the original firmware from 3DS and it is back to normal.
I guess it doesn't work with a 0% cartridge (I don't think it was intended to). I tried it with a 0% ABS and it said not enough material and no option to override.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to using this in the future.

We're working on this small glitch as we speak.

So, I flashed it back to the hack to test printing in ABS and it works quite well. I have a 1% ABS cartridge and it stays at 1% as advertised. There is one oddity though that is really not a problem. I just thought you might like to know.
The cartridge I have is ABS Coral. I set it to ABS Coral in the Cube Print software and when I go to print it, it says I have the wrong color. It's not a problem since you can just hit ok, but I thought it was worth pointing out.

Yep found this glitch too and its on the works.

Is there still a link here back to V1.0? I highly recommend it for novice users. Only the 100% thing gets in the way. Small price to pay.
