It is a direct replacement. Did you find the open-builds forum posts on disassembly yet?
Just be careful about pinched wires when you put things back together. Those wires are routed very specifically.

...and for others noticing some wear on the motor shaft, and you primarily work on the left cartridge anyway...
...you could swap the motors at some "half-life" point of the printer.

Thanks for the help. I will be asking more questions.

The only thing that I will hang you up is locating the clear plastic "latches" in the upper corners. You can see them if you turn the printer upside down.
Careful for the video screen cable. Unplug from the motherboard.
Once you are inside, you might consider retrieving the SD and copy the data for future reference.

I need a Cube 3 PLA cartridge or chip! (I know... "hen's teeth"

I have white or red Ekocycle cartridges I would be happy to trade.

(But in all honesty, why would someone want one since they could simply switch their Ekocycle to a Cube 3 firmware??? )

I'm in the Dallas TX area, if that helps.

What are you willing to give for a chip? Are you pretty much covered on the other parts?

This might work for you (for all the right reasons)...

Amazon has a few PLA carts listed. Best price is just under $50... Neon Green and Pale Yellow meets this, and Red PLA for $52.
    https://www.amazon.com/3D-Systems-39...W6AYJ4XPA&th=1

This gives you everything you need when you reach that maintenance period.

Plus the 3DS filament is actually pretty good considering it is very opaque. This is what gives those prints such detail.
I am seriously considering buying Cube 2 filament when the price is right just for this reason. There are precious few filament suppliers that meets this need.

    Um, I dunno... $10 ??
I have lots of cartridges - all Ekocycle. I need a couple of Cube3 cartridges or chips so I can convert to the Cube3 firmware - works better than the Ekocycle firmware.

The reviews aren't so good for those! Also, the heading says "PLA", while the description says "ABS". I wonder which it really is?

FWIW, 3DS sells Cube 3 cartridges for $49 plus $5 shipping. Likely old stock though.

I just hate to pay that much for another cartridge case (which I have plenty of) with so-so filament, just to get the chip.

    May have to, though.

You'd be better off getting the ReCube Pro for ~$50 from Tomuro. Then you could just reprogram all your Ekocycle chips.

Yep, I'd pay $10 too; cost me $40 to get a spare ABS and $50 for a second INF Rinse chip
I just keep an eye out for cheap carts on eBay. Last 4 stock PLA carts cost me $31.25/each and it came with a free printer.

That reminds me, I need to print something with that...
