should i throw away my printer?

I have one of the first rapide lite 200, but didn't had the time to assemble it at the time. So I just assembled it and conected it for the first time.
I can connect to it with Repetier Host but the printer doesn't seem to take any commands. Does the stock Rapid lite board even work or do i need to change the board? Does the stock printer even work without any changes?

Yes, its supposed to work, although it will fail sooner or later. Where are you from?

Mine's been running fine for two years, must've put at least 20 kg of filament through it without any board issues, so luck of the draw i guess.. Worn through a few extruder bits though
